Project Spotlight: Arcadia Electrical to Provide P.S. 303Q Students with a State-of-the-Art Educational Facility

In 2017, the School Construction Authority (SCA) created the P.S. 303 project, a $66 million project that includes an 82,000 square-foot addition and renovation of the existing school building in the Forest Hills section of Queens, New York. This project contains three phases: phase 1 consists of the construction of the new addition, phase 2 is a construction link to join the new addition to the existing building, and phase 3 includes the renovation of the existing building. The new educational facility will feature state-of the-art technology, two-story gymnasium, science rooms, library and special education rooms.

As part of this expansion and renovation project, Arcadia Electric will be supplying and installing all the electrical systems, fixtures and components. Arcadia will also be providing electrical distribution throughout the building, including the construction of an electrical service room. As part of the SCA’s mission to design and construct environmentally sound schools, Arcadia will also be installing energy-efficient lighting and a brand-new generator on the roof to ensure all systems can be maintained in the event of any issues. One of the biggest components of the electrical services Arcadia will be providing is the installation of emergency and safety systems. One of the more critical factors today is the focus placed on child and faculty safety for the day to day operations along with any emergency situation that may arise and as part of our scope of work to safeguard the school, intrusion and fire alarms, intercom systems, and security cameras will be installed throughout the facility.

The P.S. 303 project is expected to be completed by January 2021. Arcadia Electric is proud to be part of such an important project that will enable the school to service the ever-growing educational need in the Queens community.
